The legacy of hand-painted signage is as colorful as its striking visuals, and a revival of this artistic style is reshaping the public's perception of traditional advertising signs. On the other hand, a custom hand-painted signs for docks and piers helps infuse your establishment with artisanal charm, welcoming customers with warm and unique hand-painted signage.
Before Photoshop and Illustrator became standard, artists climbed onto ladders to hand paint wall murals, buildings, infrastructures, and many more.
Different fonts conveyed different emotions and hand-painted signs visually communicated what people could expect from that service or establishment just as digital display ads do today. Restaurants depicted folk lettering, conveying a home-style feel. Carnivals and circuses used bold fonts and bright colors to create whimsical signage.
1889 The Pier was a single wharf at the foot of Emerald Street.
At Smart Alex Signs, we realize the value of this traditional method and specialize in creating custom exterior dock & pier hand-painted signs that communicate your brand's message effectively towards customers and guests alike.
ABOUT REDONDO LANDING ON THE PIER
Originally built in 1888 to handle the enormous lumber trade from the Pacific Northwest, Redondo’s Wharf 1 was the first of Redondo’s era of piers, wharfs, and harbors. The current seventh generation horseshoe-shaped pier stands 25 feet above the water, spans 70,000 square-feet of open space. and is known as the largest “endless” pier on the California coast.
It is also connected to a remnant of the wooden Monstad Pier (Wharf 3) that was built in the 1920s. Today, the Redondo Landing serves as the gateway building to The Pier, Its façade is reminiscent of the Looff Hippodrome, a carousel building that was built on The Pier in the 1920s.
Redondo Beach Pier continues to host visitors from around the world and generations of local families who have grown up with regular visits to the Redondo Beach Municipal Pier.
Looff Hippodrome, the landmark carousel building on the Pier built in 1925.
